Microbial Culture Collection

LLP "Research and Production Center for Microbiology and Virology"

The Microorganism Collection was established in 1976 at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is recognized as one of the country's significant scientific collections.

The Collection maintains strains of bacteria, actinomycetes, yeasts, and filamentous fungi isolated from a wide range of natural and anthropogenic sources. Its holdings include type, reference, industrial, and patented strains of scientific and practical importance.

The Collection is continuously expanding and developing. A systematic revision of the maintained cultures is carried out in accordance with modern approaches to microbial taxonomy, while the holdings are regularly enriched with new strains, including species that were not previously represented in the Collection.

The collection includes 105 strains of actinomycetes that are widely used in biotechnological research and in the search for producers of biologically active compounds.
